Nobel Prize winner Gabriel Garcia Marquez brought South American Magical Realism to the international scene with books such as “One Hundred Years of Solitude” and “Love in the Time of Cholera.” As for fine art Fernando Botero of Medellin is perhaps the country’s best known. His paintings often feature figures throughout history, art, and politics with what appears to be humorous undertones. So unique are his drawings are that his paintings are instantly recognizable.
